Here are some ways you can give to sustain the Barnum Museum as a bridge from the past to the future:
Barnum’s Birthday Appeal!
What better occasion than the celebration of Mr. Barnum’s 208th birthday to provide an update to our friends and supporters on our incredible re-envisioning progress!
2018 marked the Barnum Museum’s 125th year of service to our global community! Since 1893, the Museum has welcomed millions of visitors from around the world and it is an honor to continue our educational mission and aspire to P.T. Barnum’s ‘instructive entertainment’ objectives. We are grateful to you for your support and enthusiasm for the historic Barnum Museum!
One of the most exciting announcements over the last year is that the National Parks Service and Department of the Interior are currently assessing the designation of the historic Barnum Museum to National Historic Landmark status. With only 2,500 National Historic Landmark properties throughout the United States, this prestigious recognition will place the Barnum Museum as one of the most significant cultural heritage sites in America.
We completed the National Endowment for the Humanities Artifact Digitization Project and launched our new website making over 1,200 digital artifacts assessable to students, teachers, researchers and Barnum enthusiasts from all over the world. From the magnificent Tom Thumb carriages to fascinating personal items owned by P.T. Barnum himself, the images and information in this new 21st century tool have broadened our to reach to inspire people around the globe.
We continue to partner with BRC Imagination Arts and our community to create the future for the Barnum Museum. With extraordinary support from hundreds of advocates, we completed a remarkable Interpretive Master Plan. The new Barnum Museum will be a touchstone of urban revival which attracts visitors from all over the world and, just as Barnum did, invests in the prosperity of our community. Our approach will preserve his historic legacy and carry forward his spirit of innovation through state-of-the-art exhibits that engage visitors in a manner which, like Barnum, is both cutting-edge and timeless.
The future of the Museum and our ability to carry on the legacy of P.T. Barnum depends on the continued financial support of loyal patrons like you! Your donation will help us continue this important work for generations to come. The Barnum Museum is a vital, unique American treasure and I sincerely hope you will be a part of this extraordinary legacy by donating to the Barnum Museum Birthday Appeal! There is much to celebrate as we look toward the future!
In advance, my sincere thanks.
