Hello, everyone!
Hard to believe we will be closing out April soon, especially with the weather as cold as it has been here in Connecticut. That said, I am happy to report that the Barnum Museum has successfully “weathered” some very heavy rainfall recently, meaning that the necessary work on our historic balconies to make them watertight has proven successful—good news indeed! Many thanks to those who worked directly on accomplishing this feat, and to those who’ve supported our work through their contributions to the museum, all greatly appreciated.
This week’s exploration of P. T. Barnum’s letters reveals some interesting ways in which he orchestrated the promotion of General Tom Thumb’s tours in France, even using the miniature clothing. If you missed the previous two stories by our Curator and wish to catch up, you can now visit our Blog page and find them there: “Piling Up the Tin!” and “Barnum’s Park City: A Bit of France in Bridgeport?” We will continue to post the stories to our Blog page.
Hats off to you for the help and support I know you are abundantly giving to others—though remotely—during this challenging time. With my hope that every one of you is staying healthy,
Kathleen Maher,
Executive Director
