Greetings, everyone!
Here in Connecticut the weather has been like a steam bath this week, and few of us want to think about preparing meals while it is so hot. Instead, we’ll whet your appetite with a blog about food in New York and France in the 1840s and ‘50s, a topic suggested by Barnum’s letters with entertaining comments on the French cuisine and hotels. You will also get a look at early menus from Astor House, the luxury hotel across from Barnum’s American Museum, where he surely must have dined on occasion. The 9- and 11-course menus are impressive, to say the least. So, let your culinary imagination roam as you enjoy the virtual feast!
Until next week,
Stay well, stay strong!
