Greetings, Everyone!
Apologies for our “silence” last Friday but as many of you know, Tropical Storm Isaias walloped Connecticut on Tuesday, August 4th, leaving about 800,000 households and businesses without power. Only this week were most back on the grid again. So we are up and running again. Thankfully no damage was done to our historic building, which admirably withstood the intense wind gusts thanks to the stabilization work that has been done. I have to say I was feeling relieved that our rooftop golden eagle, who blew off back in early March, has been safely housed indoors since that episode, so I did not have to worry about him heading off across Long Island Sound on the winds of Isaias.
I hope you enjoy this week’s blog, which takes us back to France again with P. T. Barnum. It may help you feel a bit more patient on occasions when your road trips take longer than planned. Thanks to all of you for your interest and support, which we greatly appreciate!
As always, stay safe, stay strong.
Kathleen Maher,
Executive Director
