Community Engagement Message from the Executive Director

Greetings Friends,

This week I’d like to do a check-in with you.  How are ya?  As these weeks have melted into months, I know we all are sharing a shift in our emotional well-being, and regaining peace-of-mind is, hopefully, in the glorious near future.  My wish is that you, your family, friends and community are faring well through these challenging times and finding some sense of ‘back-to-normal’ in your daily routine.

As we all are transitioning the way we walk through our typical day, adjustments and tweaks to ordinary tasks are necessary to ensure we all keep well and take care of each other.  Perhaps you’re like me…wearing a mask is just a thing I do, and committing to donning protective gear empowers me with a feeling of ‘being part of the solution.’  Thank you to everyone for dedicating yourself to defeating the virus.  These days and months will live on in history.  Our work, our actions are lessons for the future.  May we have served it well.

Meanwhile, the Barnum Museum is painstakingly considering the safety of our cherished guests as we map our road to reopening.  There is a tremendous amount to anticipate, plan and prepare as we determine the best possible practices and procedures to welcome visitors once again.  Safety and trust are paramount.  YOU are our greatest treasure.

We will announce reopening day when our inside preparation meets the State of Connecticut Sector Rules for Indoor Museums, and we receive authorization from the State’s mandatory Self Certification to  ensure every safety measure and precaution is operational.  We will be in regular communication with our friends and community to keep you informed.

As always, our sincere thanks!

Stay well, stay strong!

Kathy
