Community Engagement Message from the Executive Director

Greetings, Everyone!

Now that we are officially in the summer season, many of you have probably thought back to memorable trips and vacations in past years when we could safely travel and enjoy whatever leisure activities we wished. At present, of course, we need to mindfully re-think and modify our summer plans, knowing that it will be for the well-being of all in the long run.  This week’s blog takes us back to early days of the American Museum when Barnum was figuring out new ways to attract visitors, and shares tangible evidence that in the summer of 1849, a young man from Maine enjoyed a memorable trip to New York City to visit Barnum’s museum.

Stay well, stay strong—and stay cool!

Kathleen Maher,
Executive Director
